SPECIAL EVENT
Witness One of the Most Extraordinary Celestial Events of Our Lifetime
2 August 2027 · Luxor, Egypt
Prepare to witness a moment that feels almost beyond imagination.
On 2 August 2027, the Moon will pass directly between the Earth and the Sun, completely covering the Sun and transforming the ancient city of Luxor into the setting for one of the most spectacular astronomical events of the 21st century.
Not overnight
And Luxor is one of the most exceptional places on Earth to experience it.
6 MINUTES & 22 SECONDS OF TOTAL DARKNESS
In Luxor, the total phase of the eclipse will last approximately 6 minutes and 22 seconds — an extraordinarily long period of totality. The total eclipse begins at around 13:02 and reaches its maximum at approximately 13:05 local time.
For those precious minutes, the Moon will completely cover the Sun.
Daylight will dramatically fade. The sky will darken. The Sun’s brilliant outer atmosphere — the solar corona — will become visible around the black silhouette of the Moon, while stars and planets may emerge in the daytime sky. The horizon can glow with a surreal sunset-like light in every direction.
This is not simply a beautiful sunset or a partial eclipse.
It is a complete transformation of the sky.
WHY LUXOR?
Luxor sits directly within the path of totality and is close to the area where the eclipse reaches its exceptional maximum duration. The Sun will be almost directly overhead during totality, creating an extraordinary viewing position.
But there is something even more special about experiencing this event here.
You will stand in a land where humanity has been looking toward the Sun for thousands of years — surrounded by the temples, monuments and ancient landscape of Luxor — while the modern sky stages an astronomical spectacle of extraordinary rarity.
For a few unforgettable minutes, ancient Egypt and the cosmos meet above you.
A ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME EXPERIENCE
Total solar eclipses are rare from any individual location. The 2027 eclipse is particularly remarkable because it offers more than six minutes of totality in Luxor and is one of the longest total solar eclipses of the 21st century.
You will not simply be watching an eclipse.
You will experience the sudden disappearance of the Sun, the dramatic change in daylight, the appearance of the solar corona and the extraordinary silence and atmosphere that can accompany totality.
Six minutes may sound short.
But when the Sun disappears in the middle of the day, with the ancient landscape of Luxor beneath the darkened sky, those six minutes can become a memory that lasts a lifetime.
